Three principles guide our approach: protect your data, build for resilience and monitor continuously.
1. Protecting your data
We use a range of security measures to prevent unauthorised access and keep your data private.
Connections to M-Book are protected using HTTPS/TLS encryption, protecting data as it travels between your browser and M-Book.
Our servers use firewalling and other security controls to help protect against unauthorised access and common attacks.
Within M-Book, permissions and application-level security controls determine what individual users are allowed to see and do.
2. Built for resilience
M-Book is designed so that your clinic does not depend on a single database server.
Our database runs as a MariaDB Galera cluster, maintaining synchronised copies of the database across multiple nodes. This provides resilience if an individual database node becomes unavailable.
Regular backups provide a separate layer of protection against accidental data loss and other operational problems.
The combination of database clustering and backups provides multiple layers of protection for your clinic's data.
3. Monitoring and availability
We continuously monitor M-Book and the infrastructure supporting it so that problems can be identified quickly.
Our monitoring covers infrastructure health, application behaviour, database performance and other indicators that help us understand how the system is operating.
Automated alerts notify us when monitored systems behave unexpectedly, allowing problems to be investigated promptly.
This monitoring works alongside M-Book's resilient architecture to help us keep the service available and performing reliably.
